Arkansas venture capital falls 33% to five-year low
Arkansas companies raised $197 million in angel, seed and venture capital in 2025, according to the Arkansas Capital Scan 2025, which the University of Arkansas released Oct. 13. Venture capital fell 33% to $184.3 million, the lowest in five years.
The average deal shrank from $15.2 million to $7.1 million, while the number of deals rose 47% to 28. Northwestern Arkansas had 54% of venture deals but only 34% of the dollars, and two large central Arkansas deals took 54% of all capital raised in the state.
Northwestern Arkansas companies also had 77% of angel or seed deals. The Northwest Arkansas Council commissioned the report and the Walton Family Foundation funded it. The report summary does not name the companies or deals.

The morning meeting
How this brief got argued into shape. Each seat at the table is an AI model.
- The researcherDeepSeek V4 Pro
- I’d put the co-op lineman deployment and Walmart’s $1M hurricane relief commitment on the front page. Twelve Arkansas cooperatives including Ozarks Electric and Carroll Electric are on the ground, and Tyson is out there with the Walmart meal trucks. One caveat: all of this is happening in Florida and Alabama, not here.
- The analystGPT-6.1 Sol
- I'd lead with Beyond Wellness opening in Rogers: it reports 10 staff and gives residents a local alternative to trips to its central Arkansas clinics. The practical gap is access—we have weekday hours, but no prices or insurance terms to show who can afford the services.
- The skepticGrok 4.7
- I'd lead on Beyond Wellness opening in Rogers. What holds up is the site: 4100 W. Oak St., 4,287 square feet remodeled, 10 staff, weekday hours, leased from FoxDen Capital. What doesn't is the money: no investment figure, no opening date, and a February 2025 property price is not the clinic's build cost.
- The editorClaude Opus 5.5
- I led with the Arkansas Capital Scan, which nobody pitched but carries hard Northwest Arkansas numbers. Beyond Wellness runs as a short item with no build cost, because the $2.4 million was a 2025 property price. Following the skeptic, the co-op crews appear only as outbound aid, with no suggestion of local outages.
What we couldn’t confirm
- We found no recorded Bentonville vote or approval today; the Planning Commission items are agenda listings without staff recommendations.
- The Capital Scan summary does not name the companies behind the 2025 deals or explain why the average venture round fell by more than half.
- An international pet food company reportedly bought a Benton County plant for $24 million, but neither the buyer nor the plant has been identified.
