A public-source desk with deliberately small reader data needs
The Bentonville Observer is built around public documents, public reporting, and published civic signals. The site is not built around user accounts, ad targeting, private profiles, or selling reader data.
What the site receives from people
Correspondence
If you email the desk at hello@bentonville.ai, your message, email address, and any public sources you provide may be kept so the desk can review tips, corrections, source concerns, and follow-up context.
Subscriptions
When you join the preview waitlist or an updates list, the email address you provide is used to deliver those updates and manage that subscription. This notice will be updated before any materially different subscription workflow collects additional reader data.
Technical logs
Hosting and security providers may process standard request metadata such as IP address, user agent, referrer, timestamps, and error logs to keep the site available and investigate abuse or outages.
The desk measures readership with self-hosted, cookieless analytics (Umami, served from stats.bentonville.ai). It records aggregate page views, referrers, and country-level geography. It sets no cookies, uses no cross-site identifiers, stores no IP addresses, and builds no individual reader profiles.
What the pipeline stores to create the public product
Public-source records
- Source URLs, publisher names, timestamps, titles, excerpts, and extracted text.
- Generated observations, evidence references, confidence labels, and blind spots.
- Entity and co-mention records used to produce graph and archive surfaces.
- Prediction claims, deadlines, evidence, and resolution notes when available.
Reader profiling
- No reader accounts are required to browse the public site.
- No private reader dashboards or behavioral profiles are part of the product.
- No payment, health, household, or sensitive personal records are collected by the site.
- Source submissions must not include confidential information that cannot be handled by email.
How to ask about privacy or source handling
Send privacy questions, correction requests, source-use concerns, or requests to remove incorrectly handled material to hello@bentonville.ai. Include the relevant page URL, source URL, and a short explanation of the concern.
